Route description
By car
Coming in from the south, east or west of the country: From Schiphol, follow the A9 towards Haarlem/Alkmaar, take the IJmuiden/Beverwijk exit (A22), then take the IJmuiden/Velsen-Zuid/Velserbroek exit (N202). At the end of the exit turn left at the traffic lights towards IJmuiden. You will pass traffic lights for a left turn only. At the next set of traffic lights turn left towards Santpoort (this is the main road along the Beeckesteijn estate). After 500 metres, turn left onto the motorway towards Santpoort (A208). On the motorway, keep to the right-hand lane (the slow lane) towards Santpoort/Velserbroek and then turn right before you get to the Shell petrol station. At the end of the exit turn right towards Santpoort (you will be on Santpoortse Dreef). Continue straight over the roundabout. After 1km you will see the railway station for Santpoort-Noord. Turn right onto the station parking lot*; this road crosses the railway line. Follow the left bend in the road until you come to the next fork. Take a sharp right onto the Duin en Kruidbergerweg. After 500m you will see the Hofstede De Kruidberg farm and riding school. Opposite, on the left, is the driveway to the main entrance of the Duin & Kruidberg estate. Please note that if you are using a GPS or sat-nav, you need to key in the town of Velsen!
Coming in from the north of the country: From Alkmaar, follow the A9 towards Haarlem. Take exit A22 towards Beverwijk, IJmuiden and Haarlem. After the Velsertunnel take the A208 towards Haarlem-Noord. On the motorway, keep to the right-hand lane (the slow lane) towards Santpoort/Velserbroek and take the exit before the Shell petrol station. At the end of the exit turn right towards Santpoort (you will be on Santpoortse Dreef). Continue straight over the roundabout. After 1km you will see the railway station for Santpoort-Noord. Public transport
From Haarlem: Take the train to station Santpoort-Noord (towards Uitgeest). Walk down the platform towards the bicycle storage area. Go down the stairs and through the tunnel under the railway line. At the end of the tunnel follow the road straight ahead, past the riding school, to the end of the lane. At the T-junction turn right and after approximately 500m you will see Hofstede De Kruidberg farm and riding school on the right. Opposite, on the left, is the driveway to the main entrance of the Duin & Kruidberg estate. It’s a 10min walk.
From Schiphol: Take the Amsterdam train and change at Sloterdijk for the train to Uitgeest. Alight at Santpoort-Noord station. The rest of the journey is as above.
From Uitgeest: Take the train to Santpoort-Noord station. Stay on this side of the station and walk past the riding school, to the end of the lane (T-junction). The rest of the journey is as above.
